About Wait

Authentics - 1998

The Wait Chair, made of injection-moulded polypropylene, was designed at a time when technology was nowhere near as sophisticated as it is today. Huge consideration was taken over the injection moulding process and 10 weeks were spent testing a computer model for elements such as strength, weight, the temperature and flow of the plastic and the cycle time of injection moulding.

Subsequently a 3D model was carved from a block of chemi-wood and used for checking both the chair’s aesthetics and ergonomics before committing to the injection-moulding tool. The finished product is lightweight, durable and eminently stackable.
